The Heydays - Freiheit, gekostet. What happened on April, 14. 2007 at Café Nepomuk (Reutlingen), was a surprising event for some reason: Tübingen's newcomerband "The Heydays" made its very first appearance. The first accord was struck, the audience listened attentively: Lyrically-powerful german lyrics, joined by guit… The Heydays - Freiheit, gekostet. What happened on April, 14. 2007 at Café Nepomuk (Reutlingen), was a surprising event for some reason: Tübingen's newcomerband "The Heydays" made its very first appearance. The first accord was struck, the audience listened attentively: Lyrically-powerful german lyrics, joined by guitars, which made remember bands like The Strokes, The Libertines or even Oasis, with impulsive drumbeat and catchy bassgrooves. But not only the audiency was enthusiastic, the technicians also complimented the five musicians on their musical and arranging qualities. Back in January 2007: A setlist of 35 minutes having maturated in a one-year garage period, the band went to a Stuttgart studio to record the "Freiheit, gekostet" single, containing three representative independent-tracks. This was used to compete at PlayLive, Baden-Württembergs biggest newcomerband-contest, finally earning the audience's award this evening. Inspired by the audience's verve, the quintett faces an busy festival-summer, which is to culminate in an studio-recording early this fall. The lyrics tell about everyday's wisdom, young folks thoughts on the way to themselves, but about reflective criticism of social mechanisms as well. The Heydays don't end up in melancholy and depression - their music and lyrics indicate optimism, positivity and a healthy part of irony.
