Wit… Formed in mid-1999, Krenshaw creates a groove-laden blend of heavy alternative music with a forceful yet dynamic melody and power. Combining thunderous downbeats, distorted bass, sledgehammer guitars and hypnotic vocals, Krenshaw creates a roar that reverberates inside the head long after the band leaves the stage. With a veteran crew of musicians in tow, Krenshaw has put together a soundscape emoting and transcending a deep feeling of painful honesty to its audience. "It's all about creating a headspace and an attitude. That is why we do this, to release and share that pain and energy with others,” said Kelly D., Krenshaw vocalist. Since the band’s formation, Krenshaw has received a hearty response at its shows, and has gained an ever growing loyal following. Bay Area media loves Krenshaw, showering the band with a deluge of positive press and reviews of its musical endeavors. The music evolves from notable influences in traditional heavy rock: Black Sabbath, Alice in Chains, Pink Floyd, Kyuss, Melvins, Soundgarden, Helmet, and Monster Magnet. With the release of its first EP, "Lazy i" (2001 Thunder Steak Records), the band is poised to jump to the next level of success. Krenshaw is determined to put its own scar on the already thrashed face of heavy rock. Krenshaw is: R.J. Newkirk / Drums - (Jack the Lad, Dammaj [Roadrunner]) Kelly D. / Vocals (Soul Cellar, El Maton) Ryan Landes / Guitar - (No Warning, Dear Deceased) Matt Castle / Guitar - (Stumble, Collin’s Logic) Leon Marcelis / Bass - (Refuse) 12.22.2003 - Krenshaw, who has all but disappeared from the live show circuit recently, has done so for good reason. The band has been quietly tucked away preparing their massive new disc entitled 'Fingered'. The band, along with their management company, Broken Ocean Entertainment, are planning some major events in 2004 so stay tuned to what these guys have in store. 9.4.2003 - Krenshaw's guitarist Ryan Landes was recently involved in an automobile accident which left him with plenty of bruises, a fractured wrist and a fractured bone in his thumb. While he is generally doing well after this event, the band had to cancel their appearance at Music After Dark in downtown San Jose tonight with no word on how this will affect their future schedule. The van Landes (pictured right) was driving had a blow out which sent the van 'barrel rolling'. The band expects him to be back in the line-up down the road, but for the time being, Landes will be in a cast for a few weeks. Meanwhile, the band is still trucking towards a brand new disc release entitled 'Doublewide'. No official CD Release date has been announced. 4.23.2003 - Krenshaw, after a lengthy search for a new permanent bass player, has officially named Mike Lee as their newest addition to the band. In related band news, Krenshaw is set to release an 'Evil Special Edition CD' in the next couple of weeks. This will be in advance of their second full length effort, 'Doublewide', which is expected to drop soon. 1.30.2003 - Although not officially announced until just recently, Krenshaw and bassist Jimmeh parted ways back in December 2002 and the band has been actively seeking a new bass player. Jimmeh was one of the longest standing members until a few years ago he stepped away from the band as bassist Leon Marcelis took on the role for just under a year. Jimmeh then came back into the band and was working with them to complete their newest recorded effort entitled 'Doublewide'. No replacement for Jimmeh has been named nor has an official street date for the new disc been announced. 10.17.2002 - Krenshaw vocalist Kelly Dalton was recently named the Best Local Vocalist in the San Jose Metro's 'Best of the Silicon Valley 2002' Reader's Choice Awards. Dalton and his band mates in Krenshaw are currently gearing up for their sophomore full length disc entitled 'Doublewide' which the band expects to street in the coming months. In the meantime, the band continues to hit the live show circuit hard with plenty of NorCal scheduled shows. 6.11.2002 - Krenshaw is back on the recording path. The band is currently putting together their follow up full length effort to the popular 'Lazy i' entitled 'Double Wide'. Former bassist Jimmeh has stepped back into the band for the time being to lay down the recording as well as fill in for live performances. Expect a street date of late 2002 for Krenshaw's sophomore effort. 5.31.2002 - After just under a year with the band, Krenshaw has officially announced the departure of bassist Leon Marcelis. Marcelis joined the band in late 2001 after the departure of longtime bassist Jimmeh. No word on a replacement at this time. 10.13.2001 - Bassist / guitarist Jimmeh (formerly of Krenshaw) has parted ways with his most recent project Woodshed citing personal differences. 9.5.2001 - Krenshaw has officially announced that Leon Marcelis will join the band as their new bassist. 8.23.2001 - Update: Krenshaw bassist Jimmeh, who is slated to part with the band after their September 21st, 2001 show, is stepping into the full time guitarist role for San Jose-based Woodshed. 8.21.2001 - After their appearance at the Powerslave.com Presents show on September 21st, 2001 at the Cactus Club, bassist Jimmeh will be departing from Krenshaw. 2.25.2001 - Krenshaw expects to release their full length effort entitled 'Lazy I' in late April. 9.15.1999 - The Vamp Magazine and Bass Ale sponsored show called 'The Man rock' show is on the 30th of September and will be at The Usual. True to Form, Security, and Krenshaw are scheduled to perform. Read moreShow less
